"Sunday with a Flu" (6º)

Hi!

Here's another song with almost all the verbs in the simple past. It's called "Sunday with a flu" and the singer is YODELICE.

You have to put the verbs into brackets in the past:

(Close) my door, (forget) my key
Missed my bus in the pouring rain
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

Burnt my toast and (lose) your number
Cut my finger, spilled my beer
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you ?

(Have) a chat and (leave) my hat
(Eat) my dog and (walk) my cat
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you ?

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you ?

Called a cabbage, threw the garbage
(Ask) for help and got some kelp
It's been the usual sunday with a flu
And I just can't get over you

I put your stockings in my purple boots
What if I don't get over you ?

The simple past with COLDPLAY (6º)

You can practice the past simple with the song "Yellow". It's part of a concert they gave in Sydney (Australia) in 2003. You can sing too! (The verbs in bold are in the past)

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah they were all yellow,

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And everything you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
Cause you were all yellow

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know for you I bleed myself dry
For you I bleed myself dry

It's true look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine
Look at the stars look how they shine for you
and all the things that you do

"Let it be" by The Beatles - 40th anniversary

The album "Let it be" was released on 8 May 1970. Here's a video of one of the most famous songs of this band.

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

When all the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....
There will be an answer.
Let it be...
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be...
There will be an answer.

Let it be...
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
there will be no sorrow, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....
There will be no sorrow, let it be.

Let it be...
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.
